ARCHOS Unveils G9 Series 1.5Ghz Dual-core Android Tablets with Up to 250GB of Storage

Got to hand it to ARCHOS for trying and successfully differentiating themselves from the pack. ARCHOS just unveiled two new tablets the 8-inch (4:3) ARCHOS 80 G9 and 10.1-inch (16:10) ARCHOS 101 G9  that offers the fastest processor, the highest storage capacity, and the most capable graphics (full 1080p H.264 video playback) out of any tablet currently on the market. Whats more, the price points for the G9 tablets are almost hard to believe. The 8-inch model starts at $249 and the 10.1-inch model starts at $349. Not bad for a Android Honeycomb powered tablet sporting the screaming fast 1.5Ghz OMAP4 dual-core processor from Texas Instruments (supposedly 50% faster than NVIDIAs current Tegra 2 processor).

Interesting fact: the 250GB hard drive ARCHOS is using (smaller Flash-based models will also be available) is Seagates new 7mm thick Momentus 2.5-inch HDD. ARCHOS states that a tablet with this drive can last for 7 hours when watching video and up to 10 hours when just surfing the net. Guess well see how true that is when they actually ship. Oh, and 3G connectivity isnt a model option its $49 dongle accessory you can purchase and install into any of the tablets. Nice! ETA: September 2011.
