Lighting Fixtures, Made in the USA: How We Hand-Finish Our Shades

When I started Alluminare back in 2001, I was told by people in the lighting fixture industry that we would never make it if we decided to run our factory here in America. As our big box competitors quickly moved their operations overseas in those early years, we made a commitment to keeping our lighting made here in our Georgia factory. Our country is full of talented people in manufacturing, and keeping those people employed has always been our number one goal.

All our lamp shades and lighting fixtures are 100% handmade, so they last a lifetime. I’m very proud of the hand work our artisans do every day, and I wanted to share a couple of pictures with you so you can see what I see. These pictures illustrate the hand finishing of our shades: all our shade edges are hand rolled and tucked so there’s no ugly tape (check out most lamp shades and you’ll see what I mean). Because we hand finish all our lamp shades and lighting fixtures, all you’ll see is a nice and tidy edge that never discolors or gets dirty.

I hope you enjoy this little peek into our factory. If you have any requests for pictures of what we do, just drop a comment to me on this post. I’ll be happy to get a few shots for ya.
